World of Tanks Underwater Mode & New Water Physics

Upcoming in the next path(scheduled for mid-April) will be a new mode in World of Tanks that brings two new underwater maps along with new water physics.  Tanks will now be able to drive underwater and remain capable of fighting instead of the current system where tanks drown after a certain period of time.  While the water changes will come to all maps with water currently on them the two new maps coming with the update will feature a complete underwater map to fight in.  Gravity will be reduced by 80%, speed will reduced by 80%, and the range you can shoot will be drastically reduced.  Light tanks, medium tanks, and heavy tanks will only be capable of firing 10m while SPGs will be able to fire 20m.  Wargaming is dubbing these changes and the new mode “Waterworld of Tanks” and there is a leaked in-game screenshot of one of the new underwater maps slated to release in mid-April.

Keep an eye out on the World of Tanks website since apparently there will be a release later today about the new maps and underwater changes.

  1. Hope you have put up a video about this as I would love to see how many bites you get. I also want to see how many players take their tank for a swim. Awesome

    Nicely done 🙂

  2. Underwater tanks?
I hope this is not the normal for all or even some of the battlefields.
Why not just do war of submarines?

  3. Underwater tanks?
    Like on the Three stooges?
    Please, say it ain’t so.

They should have said the patch went through last night in order for this to have maximum effect. Tons of folks would have driven into any available water and drowned. We’re all in agreement that this is an April Fool’s thing right…
