Weak Spot Guide: VK 3001 (P)

The VK 3001 (P) is a tier 6 German medium tank which unlike other tanks has it’s weakest frontal armor located just under the turret and not on the lower frontal plate.  It can prove to be a difficult tank to take down when facing one in a lower tier tank without prior knowledge of the armor scheme and the numerous weak spots.

The index at the bottom of each picture describes a few abbreviations used and also the format in which the armor details are described in. Effective Armor (EA) refers to the overall effectiveness of the armor without normalization.

The armor values are presented in three different scenarios for the angled view of the tank.15° frontal(75° side),  25° frontal(65° side), 35° frontal(55° side), and 45° frontal(45° side).

Frontal View

Frontally the VK 3001 (P) is a tough nut to crack if your gun has lower penetration and even for higher penetrating guns the turret can be frustrating to deal with.

Angled View

The VK 3001 (P) while angling gains much more armor while making many of it’s weak spots harder to damage.  It does open up the A6 weak spot on the “corner” as it angles.

Side View

Once the sides loose their angles they become very weak along with the side of the turret. There do remain a few stronger areas from this view however.

  1. where is the hatch in the vk3001 p?
    thanks, Holly

  2. Thanks for doing this, WoT Guru, your intel has been immensely helpful to my survival in-game. Do you have any plans of adding the VK3001H and KV-1S in the future? I’m driving the M4 Sherman right now, and whenever I’m facing Tier VI tanks, the VK3001H/P’s and KV-1S’s are the ones that usually kill me the most.

Oddball that the vk3001s cause you trouble? Always thought the 3601s were a far greater pain – as a TD driver who typically has a great gun but paper armor and no HP the 3601s were far scarier than 3001s (rarely killed by them unless I was about dead to begin with…)

The KV1Ss are another story… Much like their KV brethren anything with a 75L70 or better need not fear them but they can be a pain if well driven.

  3. weakspot guide for this tank?xD

better just wrote this: Shoot the front without any thinking.

you simply can’t have that low penetration gun, where you need to aim at weakspots on this tank…
and not just this tank, this is true for every german t5,t6 on the game…

Hell of a tank almost no weak spots. Very hard to kill.
